Meet Laney: Sharp Edges, Big Heart

Laney is someone you notice right away. All sharp edges and quick wit, with a knack for nicknaming everyone in the room.

She’s brash, funny, and a little reckless, but there’s more to her than the sparks she throws. She’s smart—smarter than most people realize at first—and she’s been dealt a tough hand, forced to grow up faster than she should have.

Laney has a way of testing people, of keeping them at arm’s length just long enough to see if they’ll stay. Beneath that attitude is someone who worries she doesn’t quite deserve the kindness Susie and Jim (her unofficial foster parents) have shown her.

Music is her escape when the world feels too heavy, the place where she can lose herself and piece herself back together again.

She’s learning what it means to let people in, even when it feels safer to push them away, and how to care without fear of being left behind.

Laney isn’t perfect, but she’s unforgettable: sharp edges on the outside, a big heart underneath.

If this were a movie and I got to pick the cast: Sophie Thatcher would play Laney.
