Cheese Pizza Day + Family Movie Night

In our house, Friday nights mean two things: pizza and movies. When I saw Cheese Pizza Day landed on a Friday this year, I took it as a sign.

It doesn’t matter how busy the week has been, Friday night is our reset button. The kids know what’s coming: pizza boxes stacked on the counter, blankets in the living room, and a movie that always ends in someone quoting lines all weekend.

We’re a family divided when it comes to pizza. Dad is a pepperoni loyalist. The kids? Cheese, every time. And me? I’m the one ordering the “weird” pizzas—buffalo chicken, crab rangoon, spinach alfredo chicken tomato, BBQ chicken and pineapple (yes, pineapple belongs on pizza). Of course, I’ll never turn down a slice of plain cheese or pepperoni, but I also don’t mind when we need more pizzas these days. As the kids grow, that means I can sneak one of my goofy favorites into the order “for sharing”… which really just means leftovers that only I’ll eat for the next couple of days.

Our Must-See Movie Picks for the Kids

Cheese Pizza Day feels like the perfect excuse to pull out some of the classic 80’s/90’s favorites. The ones we saw as kids that our kids have to see growing up too. We rotate through newer releases too but every kid must see these!

Some Fridays it’s as simple as dimmed lights and a blanket pile in the living room. Other times, we take it outside and turn movie night into a backyard theater with friends, popcorn, and theatre-box candy (for a quarter of the price at the grocery store).

Cheese Pizza Day just gave us the best excuse to go all-in on our Friday ritual. Now I’d love to hear your family’s must-watch movies, what would you add to our list? Share your picks in the comments, or tag me on social if you celebrate with your own pizza + movie night tradition.
