Meet Emmett: Growing Pains

Some people build walls with silence, others with sarcasm. Emmett does both.

He’s Paige’s fifteen year old son. He’s sharp but guarded, with an edge that keeps people just far enough away. He’s still figuring out who he is, and it shows… in the way he pulls back, in the way his words sting sometimes when he’s trying not to get hurt himself.

Emmett doesn’t like to stand out, but he doesn’t want to disappear either. He wears name-brand sneakers and hoodies like armor, trying to fit in, trying not to draw too much attention while he finds his footing.

He’s not perfect, but he’s trying. And sometimes growing hurts before it heals.

If this were a movie and I got to pick the cast: Brady Noon would play Emmett.

Over the past couple months, I’ve introduced you to the people who make this story what it is, and Emmett is the final piece of the puzzle.

These are the characters who’ve been keeping me company as I write and edit, and I can’t wait for you to meet them all on the page someday soon!

I’m still editing and shaping this story, working to bring it into the world. But if you’d like updates, sneak peeks, and behind-the-scenes notes along the way, join my newsletter!

We are all a little broken. But last time I checked, broken crayons still color the same.
